2. CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY— MIYR Press
MIYR Press is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical publishing practices. In line with internationally recognised principles, including those of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), MIYR Press requires the disclosure of any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the publication process.
A conflict of interest refers to any situation — personal, academic, financial, institutional, political, or otherwise — that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the objectivity, integrity, or credibility of authors, editors, reviewers, or contributors. Even when no actual influence exists, the perception of a conflict warrants disclosure. When in doubt, disclosure is always encouraged.
1) Authors’ Conflicts of Interest
Authors submitting manuscripts to MIYR Press must disclose all potential conflicts of interest at the time of submission.
Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Employment, consultancy, or advisory roles
- Research funding or sponsorship from governmental, non-governmental, or commercial entities
- Ownership of shares, equity, or other financial interests related to the subject matter
- Paid speaking engagements, travel sponsorships, or other forms of remuneration
- Institutional affiliations that may benefit from the publication outcomes
Disclosed conflicts will be transparently acknowledged in the published work where relevant. The presence of a conflict of interest does not automatically disqualify a submission; however, failure to disclose relevant information may result in rejection or withdrawal of a publication.
2) Editors and Reviewers
Editors and reviewers involved in the publication process must disclose any potential conflicts of interest prior to participation.
This includes:
- Personal or professional relationships with authors (e.g., family members, students, close collaborators)
- Financial or institutional interests related to the submitted work
- Prior involvement with the manuscript or its underlying research
Individuals with significant conflicts will be recused from handling or evaluating the manuscript. Where minor conflicts exist, they must be disclosed and managed to ensure impartial decision-making.
3) Editorial Independence
When editors, editorial board members, or advisory committee members submit work to MIYR Press:
- They will not participate in editorial or review decisions regarding their own submissions
- An independent editor will oversee the review and decision-making process
- All submissions will be evaluated according to the same standards and procedures applied to external authors
4) Transparency and Disclosure
Where conflicts of interest are identified, MIYR Press may include a disclosure statement within the published work to inform readers.
Additional information or clarification may be requested to assess the nature and potential impact of a disclosed conflict.
5) Commitment to Ethical Publishing
This policy applies to all MIYR Press publications, regardless of the authors’ geographic location or institutional affiliation. As an open and globally engaged publishing platform, MIYR Press recognises that full disclosure of potential conflicts of interest is essential to maintaining trust in the integrity and credibility of published work.
3. RESEARCH ETHICS— MIYR Press
MIYR Press is committed to ensuring that all published research involving human participants is conducted in accordance with internationally recognised ethical standards. Authors are required to adhere to applicable institutional, national, and international research ethics guidelines, including, where relevant, the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki.
1) Ethical Approval and Oversight
Authors must obtain approval from an appropriate ethics committee, institutional review board (IRB), or equivalent body prior to conducting research involving human participants, where such approval is required. Upon request, authors may be asked to provide documented evidence of ethical approval.
2) Informed Consent, Privacy, and Confidentiality
Authors are responsible for ensuring that:
- Informed consentis obtained from all participants prior to their involvement
- Participants’ privacy, anonymity, and confidentialityare fully protected
- Personal or sensitive data are collected, stored, and reported in accordance with applicable data protection regulations
Research involving vulnerable populations, including minors or individuals with limited capacity to consent, as well as studies involving sensitive personal data, must include additional ethical safeguards and obtain all necessary approvals to protect participants’ rights, dignity, and welfare.
3) Author Responsibility and Ethical Transparency
Authors bear full responsibility for the ethical conduct of their research and for the transparent reporting of any ethical considerations or potential concerns related to participant involvement.
MIYR Press reserves the right to request clarification or additional documentation regarding ethical compliance. Any suspected ethical misconduct will be reviewed in accordance with MIYR Press ethical policies and relevant COPE guidelines.
Clinical Trials and Experimental Studies (When Applicable)
For publications involving experimental interventions, controlled trials, field experiments, or studies in which participants are assigned to different conditions or treatments, MIYR Press strongly encourages prospective registration in a publicly accessible research registry prior to the commencement of data collection.
Examples of recognised registries include, but are not limited to:
- gov— A publicly accessible registry managed by the U.S. National Institutes of Health
- ISRCTN Registry— An internationally recognised registry assigning unique identifiers to clinical and non-clinical intervention studies
- EU Clinical Trials Register— The official registry for clinical trials authorised in the European Union and European Economic Area
- Equivalent national or institutional research registries, where applicable
Registration records should include key study information such as research objectives, study design and methodology, participant eligibility criteria, planned interventions, outcome measures, and anticipated study timelines.
Where registration is applicable, authors should clearly disclose the registry name and registration identifier within the publication. This practice supports transparency, research reproducibility, ethical accountability, and alignment with international research reporting standards.
